So, job is done for the next few months. Now I can focus on my plan to start my own business this Ramadhan. InsyaAllah

A business that almost didn't happen. I'm innocent.

This morning, my boss returned back my innocent book. It has been a while since I got hold of it and I am happy. On the back cover it says:

innocent is a busiess that almost didn't happen.

The term "almost didn't happen" is what makes the difference nowadays. I have a dream to start a successful business and nothing, (I repeat), nothing, will stop me from that except Himself.

For things that happened for the past few weeks made me stronger and realized that if you are not prepared for the rough road, then you are not on the way towards success yet. And for people who have been very supportive all this while, I thank you from the deep of my heart.

Cuppa tea

When you arrived in the office early (after long weekend due to Public Holiday on Monday), you are 150% motivated to be a better person and make everything right. When you have to read the things that you don't want to read, it will slow you down.

A quick solution to this is to stay cool and drink a cup of tea. Perhaps it is a drug of happiness.

Team leader

So, I argue why I am not appointed as a leader of the team while all this while, the gun is directed to me. Ok ok... That would be too mafia... while I was the one to blame for the coffee stain (Ha!).

The best thing (if not the funny thing) is when I am now positioned under a new head and no longer directly to the person which I argued previously. I don't see this fix the issue or even professional in a sense when I asked initially is about career development.

This is what happen when you are indispensable.

I was told by my other mentor to relax and go with the flow. And he left with a good remarks about leadership:

‎Good leadership is making people as comfortable with the journey as possible.

If not because of you, people.

We are the product of our environment, what we have been through and the people surround us -- family, love ones and friends.

I am grateful to the people that support me from all sides of life. My recent decision to not working with Petronas is one of a good example. I have considered a lot of options prior reaching to the decisive moment of my life.

  • Wait and accept the PETRONAS job offer
  • Start a career as entrepreneur
  • Pursue my studies - MBA
  • Collect some money and pack my bag to the States.

I choose the second option for the challenge that it gives me, for the reward and satisfaction. And not forgetting it is part of my dreams to start and found a successful business. It is no easy job but I guess I have chose the road not taken.

These words have kept me going this far:

You have 8 years to reach my level. If you do it carefully, you would probably getting it in 3 years time.

Don't be envy with the salary that you friends will get now. At max they will get in 5 years time is probably RM 7000. With what you have, I am sure you will be far ahead of them.

It is okay to let go one of your childhood dream to achieve your endless dreams.

If not for these words, I wouldn't probably here writing these to you about my journey of work, life and love.

P/s: Dear love, thank you for your support all this while.

Sweet time -- an apple to an orange

I am not sure if I am comparing an apple to an orange but here is the situation.

I live in 5 rooms apartment currently sharing with 4 housemates. Everyday when I got back from work, I will find them playing video games. While as soon as I had my shower, I will open my laptop to continue doing my freelance work.

I could not say that they are wasting their time since I believe they deserve it after a long hard day at work. And on certain occassion, they have to work almost 24 hours. For taking the stress off their head, they play video games.

Often I stand behind them and watch them laughing. There is a happiness. Maybe that is part of a work-life balance.

Workaholic - I still don't get the definition. Have I join the bandwagon? Or perhaps I am enjoying doing my work so much which once upon a time it was a hobby and now I could turn my hobby into money.

If they are the apple, than I could be an orange? Maybe it is how we manage our time.

Share your ideas.

Few weeks back, I came across a quote from startupquotes.com regarding sharing ideas:

Tell anyone and everyone your idea without fear they’re going to steal it.

True enough. When you share your ideas, people will:

Respond

The feedback will give you a room to grow and improve your idea.

Believe

If you share you idea and they believe in it. You're actually on the right track. The next step is the bottom line

Buy

When they believe in it, it is most likely they buy the idea. Hence, your product or service

So, if you have an idea. It could be a brilliant one, so just share it. Never be afraid that people would steal it cause if you are 100% sure and 200% want it, you will turn it into reality.

Working with the government

My dad is in the hospital at this moment. Sitting next to me, resting.

He has served the Malaysia government for 19 years in BERNAS - previously known as LPN (Lembaga Padiberas Negara) - a government body that control all things related to paddy/rice.

Benefits

I spark a conversation with my dad regarding working with the government i.e. wages, salary, etc. And he commented:

In most cases, working with government doesn't get you big salary. Buy they (gov), give you pension and other benefits*.

Referred to his condition now, the aniography test would cost us MYR 35,000 ($11,500 USD), which does not include the hospital charges, ultrasound tests, etc etc. We feel grateful for this benefit. I feel the same.

A choice

I am grateful that I get to choose, whether:

  • stay in the UK
  • to work with Petronas or other engineering company
  • run a start-up
  • work freelance
  • search other job - government, etc

A friend of mine told me that I am still young and I could learn a lot from everything. If one of the above fails, I still have other options. Thing is, have you heard about:

We live in a world that if we fail, we don't get executed, killed, etc.

Might as well you try and believe in yourself. Hold your head up high and go out there to achieve your dreams. Or in other words:

Go out there and kick some a**!

Be Human, Speak Human -- Story from my dad.

When completing jobs or tasks, should you have any issues, just let your partner/provider/client be aware of it. If you have to send your dad to the hospital, go and do so and please provide an action plan.

Speak human. They will understand if they are human. Getting things done is one thing, but family is everything.

My dad shared me with a story of a treler driver who his father died the night he supposed to work. It came to the manager's attention and the manager fired him. The driver came to my dad and told the story.

My dad ask the driver not to quit and just continue what he does everyday. My dad went straight to the manager as said:

Dad: "What have you done? You fired him? Imagine it was your dad who died and you have to stay to complete the work?"

Manager: (silent)

*Few months later, the manager was transfered to other states.

In conclusion: Be human, speak human.
